Mais le contrat d'un rookie prend en compte le fait que l'équipe qui le signe prend un risque à signer le joueur.
Branch qui fait un HoldOut et qui a été MVP d'un SB, ça coûte autrement plus.

Branch n'est pas non plus un très bon WR, un second WR pas plus sans oublier qu'il jouait avec Brady.

Branch : 4 saisons en NFL. AUCUNE à 1000 yards (ouais bon la dernière est à 998)
En moyenne ça lui a fait en gros 53 catches pour 700 yards par saison.

Avec cette série de Pats en playoffs, moi, je pensais qu'il avait fait plus.

Et les Seahawks, sachant qu'ils sont plutot bien engagés en NFC West, et justement en chopant un WR qui va les aider, ils sont plus tranquilles pour se dire qu'ils vont filer un 1st round pick qui ressemblerait à un 2nd round des Niners.
Mais les 'Hawks ont renégocié le salaire de Branch à combien ?

Je pense que Branch va autant apporter à Seattle qu'à New England, c'est à dire plus que ce que ses stats laissent penser. Les chiffres de Branch ne sont pas extraordinaires, mais sont le fruit du système de jeu des Pats, qui distribue les ballons. A Seattle, ce sera un peu la même chose, Hasselbeck s'est habitué à ne pas se reposer sur une seule cible.

L'an passé, Branch a capté 62% des ballons lancés dans sa direction. Un chiffre similaire à celui de Marvin Harrisson (62%) ou Torry Holt (63%), largement supérieur à un Terrel Owens (51%) ou Randy Moss (48%). Bien sûr, tout dépend de la façon dont les receveurs sont utilisés, mais le fait est que Branch est une cible sûre.

Les stats incompréhensives mais pertinentes de Football Outsider l'ont classé 11e receveur de l'an passé.

The 49ers are hotly pursuing five-time Pro Bowl defensive back Troy Vincent, two league sources told The Press Democrat today.

"It's safe to say the 49ers are interested, certainly interested," a source said. "But I think there will be other teams involved in it."

Vincent, a highly respected 15-year NFL veteran whom the Bills released earlier today, is free to sign with any team. The 49ers believe there will be competition for his services. They are prepared to offer Vincent a two-year contract, one source said.

The 49ers are $7.523 million under the salary cap, giving the organization plenty of room to work out a deal for Vincent.

Vincent, 35, who was placed on injured reserve-minor on Sept. 13, is recovered from a left hamstring strain, said his agent, Linda Bodley. After the Bills placed him on IR, he could not return to play for them this season. He requested his release this week because he had become healthy enough to play.

"He's not a rookie, so it's not like he's going to play 10 more years," Bodley said. "He wants to know exactly what his role would be with his new team. He hasn't ruled anything out."

The 49ers view Vincent as a free safety who can help the team's nickel defense. The 49ers' pass defense is ranked 25th in the league, yielding an average of 224.0 yards a game. Last week, the Raiders, who entered the game averaging just 70.3 yards passing a game, rolled up 216 passing yards on the 49ers.

Vincent would be an acquisition along the lines of guard Larry Allen and cornerback Walt Harris. The 49ers pounced on those veteran players in March after they were released by the Cowboys and Redskins, respectively.

Mouais... C'est sûr, on est pas trop en position pour faire la fine bouche au niveau des DBs mais bon... Il serait pas un tout de p'tit peu fini, le Vincent? Et si c'est pour avoir le même résultat qu'avec Larry Allen, je vois pas bien l'intérêt.
