J'aime à me dire que finalement, c'est peut-être bon signe, puisque çà fait des années qu'on pense que les Bengals ont fait une bonne Draft.

Ethan Kilmer a fait 6rec/79yards et 1 TD lors du dernier Orange Bowl, avec un bon QB, si çà se trouve il pourra devenir un bon WR...

tiens, je lis que les critiques sur la Draft des Bengals viennent non pas des qualités sportives des joueurs (au contraire) mais sur leur caractère...surtout pour Rucker et Nicholson...

COmme on continue à critiquer Thurman (s'il continue sur le terrain à jouer comme la saison passée, je m'en tape qu'il soit pas très gentil) ou Chris Henry.

Mais, depuis quand les joueurs de Foot US sont-ils des enfants de coeur ???

Je sors de ma retraite (OP si tu me lis je te salue ) pour lacher un petit commentaire sur la draft du WE.

A chaud, plutôt satisfait. Le pick de Joseph me ravi. Si le gars peut devenir aussi bon qu'on le prédit, on a touché le jackpot.

Whithworth en n°2, je suis aux anges. Ca assure nos arrières et c'est un message clair pour nos 3 OL non signés. Le mec est polyvalent et ça nous donne dans un premier temps un remplaçant de valeur, chose qu'on avait pas au poste d'OT.
Jones, Anderson et Steinbach a resigner. Faut être réaliste, vu la valeur de ces joueurs, on arrivera pas à faire rempiler tout le monde. Priorité absolu à Levi. Quand on a un bon LT, on doit tout faire pour le conserver. Steinbach est jeune et déjà "pro bowl alternate", lui aussi doit être resigné même si je suis pas partisan de filler un max de pognon à un OG (merci Hutchinson ).
Le cas Willie est épineux. Il mérite d'être récompensé mais pas au point de risquer l'avenir proche de la franchise. Si il veut faire pêter la banque et signer un contrat de 5 ans et bien qu'on le laisse partir. Par contre, une extension de 2 ans au prix du marché là je dis d'accord. Faut pas oublier que Justin Smith et Tory James seront également FA à la fin de la prochaine saison (même si James je m'en tape, il est grillé).

Pour Rucker, on avait vraiment besoin d'un DE. Ca gueule de tout les côtés, disant que 'il ne vaut pas un 3rd round. On verra bien. Maintenant si Lewis est aussi heureux avec le choix de Rucker qu'il l'a été avec celui de Geathers, je prends. Faut pas oublier que le gars sort d'un gros programme (USC), c'est un bon point.

Les choix du 2ème tour, j'ai pas grand chose à en dire. Un DT (qui peut jouer nose tackle), c'est interessant. Si ça peut booster Askew et dans une moindre mesure Shaun Smith, on a pas grand chose à perdre.
AJ Nicholson est un très bon joueur (sa réputation l'a plombé). Il fera un très bon backup de Thurman dans un premier temps.
McNeal sera à priori converti en WR. C'est la lotterie mais le gars a de belles mensurations et est ultra athlétique et rapide.

La draft de Lewis and co donne l'impression d'être passé à côté de quelques bons prospects mais moi je trouve plutôt cela rassurant. Ca veut dire que Lewis estime qu'il n'y a pas trop de trous dans l'effectif et qu'il pense pouvoir gagner avec ce qu'il a déjà. Les quelques lacunes flagrantes que nous avions ayant déjà été adressées par le free agency (Jackson + Adams).

Ca gueule aussi parce qu'on a pas pris de TE. Je me repète mais dans le système de Bratkowski, ils sont pas essenciels, si ce n'est pour bloquer. C'est pas de la faute de Lewis si les TE qu'il visait (Fasano, Klopfenstein, Scheffler ou Thomas) sont partis plus tôt que prévu.

He's already had a couple of run-ins with the law, but there may be more trouble brewing for Bengals player Chris Henry.

Police tell 9News they were called out to a Covington hotel early Monday morning for an alleged sexual assault.

However 9News was told that Henry was not at the hotel when police arrived.

Kenton County chief prosecutor Ken Easterling told 9News little about what police are looking at but did confirm that the run to the hotel and he investigation of Chris Henry are related.

"Can't really comment on where the investigation is going, I simply will indicate there is an investigation," said Easterling.

"It's very preliminary and certainly the Covington police are involved in the investigation," added Easterling. "As soon as they determine whether or not charges should be brought they will bring them."

"The only thing that I'm really going to indicate is Chris Henry is being investigated for potential criminal activity that occurred here in Covington. The crime is sexual in nature," said Easterling.

No formal charges though have been filed at this point.

"The findings are very preliminary, the Covington police is involved in the investigation and as soon as they determine if charges should be brought we will bring them," he added.

In the meantime police are still investigating the case and at this point are still trying to talk to any potential witnesses.

"Certainly when the witnesses have been interviewed and evidence has been looked at we'll certainly decide whether or not there's enough for purposes of probable cause," said Easterling. "Then we'll proceed as the evidence mandates."

Henry's legal troubles here started last year when he was arrested in Covington for possession of marijuana.

Henry avoided jail time on a marijuana charge from the December 2005 arrest in Covington by pleading guilty and entering a drug rehab program.

Henry's legal entanglements aren't confined to Covington.

On May 30 he faces a felony concealed firearm charge out of Orlando, Florida following an incident there earlier this year.

Henry allegedly brandished a stolen handgun during a confrontation outside a club.

That episode may have put his freedom, let alone career, in jeopardy.

A Bengals spokesman says the team is aware of this new allegation and is mounting its own inquiry.

Concernant Chris Henry, un enième passage devant la justice serait terrible. Pour avoir vu quasiment tous les matches des Bengals, je peux vous garantir qu'on a tiré le gros lot en le draftant au 3ème tour. Ce mec a tout pour devenir un des 10 meilleurs WR de la ligue.

A priori, il y a de fortes chances qu'il soit suspendu par la NFL au début de la prochaine saison suite à son affaire de port d'arme.

Geoff Hobson, of Bengals.com, reports the Cincinnati Bengals have agreed to terms on a six-year, $40 million extension with OLT Levi Jones, according to agent Kenny Zuckerman. The deal, which includes $16.3 million in guaranteed money, makes Jones the NFL's fourth-highest paid offensive lineman.

Pressed whether Thurman would show up and participate in training camp practice, which is allowed by the NFL despite the suspension, Lewis then said of the team's leading tackler in 2005: "We don't have to worry about that right now. It's a nebulous question. He's a non-factor."

One more question as to Thurman's whereabouts - he was in Georgia tending to family business - brought this response from Lewis: "If you want to be in charge of him, you're welcome."

Je vois ça d'assez loin, mais j'ai l'impression que Marv Lewis pète un peu les plombs depuis l'année dernière. On dirait qu'il fait une crise d'autorité.

S'il faisait une crise d'autorité, il aurait cherché à trader Chad Johnson, depuis la défaite en PO et l'altercation dans les vestiaires.

On avait besoin des fans en Paperbags il y a quelques années. S'ils se font virer ou sont dissuadés (tu veux payer et risquer te faire virer du match au bout de 10 minutes ?) de montrer leur mécontentement, ça va trop loin ce bordel.

A trop vouloir édulcorer cette ligue (règle sur les célébrations, crowd noise rule, etc.), ils vont réussir à la rendre insipide. J'espère que ça ne va pas s'étendre à tous les stades.

Voilà mes quelques impressions sur la 1ère mi-temps. A confirmer avec ceux qui ont vu ça...

L'OL First Team s'est faite déborder à presque chaque jeu (course ou passe). Là, y'a du boulot à faire, ne serait-ce que pour faciliter le retour de Carson.
A ce propos, on l'a vu faire des Drills d'entrainement, où il doit éviter un sackeur (un coach) et où il lance en mouvement. Il n'a plus de "brace" au genou et se déplace très très bien. Il a apparemment l'intention de jouer pendant le 3ème match de pré-saison à Cincy contre les Packers...

Anthony Wright, une fois qu'il s'est mis à faire des Audibles face aux Formations de Blitzes, s'est nettement amélioré et a pu compléter de belles passes. Au moins, LUI, il ne s'est pas fait intercepter, contrairement à Brunell.
On voit souvent toute la NFL essayer de copier ce qui semble etre le succès de l'équipe qui vient de gagner le SB... Là, les Bengals se mettent à faire du Flea Flicker, et avec succès ! Houshmandzadeh a bien failli aller tout au bout, avec son catch d'une 50aine de yards...
Ratliff a fait un beau boulot en interceptant une passe, en étant présent sur les courses et avec un joli Retour de Punt.
Johnathan Joseph a assuré sur un 3rd down, en couverture très serrée sur Espy, en tapant une balle pour un long gain.
La 2ème escouade d'OLs s'est distinguée. Particulièrement Ghiaciuc et Whitworth. J'espère que Wilkerson, notre Center et ex Outland Trophy aura sa chance aussi et que je pourrai le voir.

Nos "bagnards" ont su montrer pourquoi ils sont encore dans le roster.
Henry a été particulièrement fiable.
Ahmad Brooks m'a impressionné en MLB. Sacrée bestiole. Il aurait été bien utile l'an dernier pour stopper le Bus. D'ailleurs le mec était pour la 1ère fois avec l'équipe de NBC pour le Halftime Show. Il se trouvait tout près des gradins et s'est copieusement fait huer. Un peu dommage. Non seulement il n'est plus actif, mais il n'est pas responsable de la blessure de Carson...
