Vikings coach Mike Tice playfully defended himself when asked by a reporter why he did not call a timeout as the Green Bay Packers milked time off the clock as they lined up for a potential game-tying 39-yard field goal late in the fourth quarter.

"You can go ahead and question my clock management. I thought it was excellent," Tice said with a smile.

Tice, though, was far more serious when team executives, including owner Zygi Wilf, questioned his decision.

After Packers running back Tony Fisher was stuffed on third and 2 from the Vikings' 20, Tice opted not to use his final timeout and allowed the Packers to run about 30 seconds off the play clock. At the time, Wilf was watching the game in a box with Rob Brzezinski, the team's vice president of football operations, and Dave Blando, the team's director of football administration. When they realized Tice was not calling a timeout, one of them expressed his displeasure, banging on the see-through partition that separated their box from the Vikings' assistant coaches' box.

Brzezinski declined comment, and Wilf could not be reached for comment.

"Coaches coach, trainers train, PR directors PR direct, equipment managers equipment manage and vice presidents should vice president and not second-guess what I'm doing on the field," Tice said.

Tice insisted the Vikings needed the timeout, fearing that his offensive linemen wouldn't be able to set up fast enough for a spike, if necessary. Without a timeout, he said, all of their options would have been limited to the sideline.

"We were fortunate to have that timeout, actually," Tice said in his news conference. "We probably wouldn't have had a chance to kick the field goal if we didn't the timeout."

Vikings quarterback Daunte Culpepper burned one timeout midway through the third quarter, when he apparently didn't like the coverage the Packers were in. Then Tice called the other one with 2:37 left, before the Packers lined up for a third-and-1 play from their 32.

Second chance: Running back Mewelde Moore, asked if he was more excited or relieved after the Vikings' victory, couldn't decide.

"It felt like both," he said. "It was an excited relief."

It was an up-and-down day for Moore, who caught a 14-yard touchdown pass from Daunte Culpepper to give the Vikings a 20-17 lead with 3:01 remaining. But he lost a fumble late in the first half to end another scoring threat.

"We're only human out here," Moore said of his fumble, which came on the first play after a 72-yard kickoff return by Koren Robinson.

Moore atoned for that mistake with his fourth-quarter touchdown catch, which he described as "a double bonus for me."

"Oh, man, it was great," he said. "I can enjoy it. You know, I might sleep with my football tonight."

C'était la chasse aux Lions hier. Avec la confirmation qu'il n'y a qu'un running back valable dans cette équipe

Bon 1 victoire qui fait toujours plaisir..... La defense a assez bien tenu et surtout montre qu elle sait sacker avec 4 sacks et nous refait des interceptions.

Bonne prestation de Johnson qui au contraire de notre ami culpepper a limite les turnovers. La OL semble en avoir fini avec les pénalité, c est le moment !! Sinon tres bonne surprise de bennet....

En marquant seulement 3 points en attaque, les vikings gagnent leur match Cette victoire inattendue s'est construite autour de circonstances toutes aussi inattendues. Minnesota a établi un record NFL en étant la première équipe à marquer sur interception, retour de punt et de kick dans le même match.

En ce qui concerne les blessés du lundi matin, il y a Mike Tice qui s'est peut-être déchiré le ligament médial collatéral. Il est sûrement out pour la saison

Bon petite analyse du match....

Offense:

QB: Match tres tres moyen de Brad qui termine avec du 17/30 144yds et aucun TD mais le bon point positif c est quil s est pas fait intercepté. Mais pour le prochain match face au packers faudra qu il arrive a faire avancer l attaque car sa m etonnerai que la defense soit la pour denouveau sauver le match....

WR: Le meilleur receveur termine avec 44yds, jcrois que sa veut tout dire. Ils ont peut etre pas été tout le temps servis dans les meilleures situations mais aucun d eux a réussi a faire la difference.

HB: Completement inexcistant !! Bennett termine avec 16yds pour 19courses ... Fason n a pas réussi un seul de ses seuls short yardage. Vivement le retour de Moe qui est plus que precieus dans ces situations. Moore pourrait reprendre la place de starter contre les packers.

OL: La tache etaient tres dur de maitrisé Strahan et compagnie et ils ont pas su le faire. Ils se sont fait completement bouffer par la DL et les LB. Ils ont été incapable d ouvrir des trous pour nos HB. Point positif ils ont fait qu une pénalité

Defense:

DL: La DL a bien fait son job et continue de faire quelque sack. Pat Williams est tout simplement énorme et Kevin est a credité de plusieur passe deflecte. A noté sack tres important de Scott qui les a empeché de kicker vers le milieu du 4eme quart.

LB: Les LB ont été présent sa fait plaisir! Ils se sont pas pris de TD de Shockey un vrais miracle... Cowart est le veritable patron au mileu et Newman vient mettre de la folie.

DB: Toomer 6rec 61 yds 1 td / Buresse 3rec 50 yds 0td... Sa veut tout dire la !! Ils ont fait 1 tres grand match et ont tout le temps embrouillé le pauvre Eli. Merci Sharper !!

Special team:

Que c est bo d avoir enfin 1 special team qui c est marqué Kluwe toujours tres bon: Edinger sauvre son match avec le kick gagnant !!

Prochain match les packers, il faut absolument aller gagner au Lambeau... Les lions et les bears affrontent respectivement dallas et Carolina. C est peut etre l occasion de leur prendre 1 match chacun.

Bon match contre le rival de division. Avec un début de match médiocre pour l'attaque des vikes, c'est la défense qui a maintenue l'équipe à flot et plus particulièrement le rookie Devonte Edwards qui retourne une interception. En deuxième mi-temps, l'attaque viking a mieux tourné et le drive de 88 yards pour 8 min 33 a posé le tempo pour le reste du match.

Bon match de Mewelde Moore, comme je le disais à Ekrem, Bennett ne devrait plus être tirulaire. Moore est bien meilleur Mais j'ai eu l'impression que la défense des Packers avaient plus souvent envie de blitzer Johnson que d'arrêter Moore. Ce qui expliquerai peut être certaines de ses longues courses (dont quelques-unes annulées pour holding maudite ligne offensive)

Bilan de 5-5. Si les Vikings continuent dans cette voie, on peut espérer quelque chose. Surtout quand on voit le calendrier des Bears pour cette fin de saison qui s'annonce assez chaude avec 4 matchs à l'extérieur contre 2 à la maison.

Et les VIKINGS a 6 - 5 !! Qui aurait cru sa ?! Et dire que y en a qui disais que minnesota allait gagner au plus 5 match et qui voulait encore voir a la baisse le totale de victoire.... Sa vous rappel quelqu1 ?!

Avec l arrivee de tout ses gros noms en meme temps, le temps d adaptation a ete asez long mais maintenant que tout le monde est bien rodé, la defense des vikings montre de tres bonne choses... Il faut plus que SMOOT se mette au meme niveau des autre en revenant de sa blessure....

Sinon meme avec 7 - 5 les vikings sont presque obligé de réaliser 3 victoire sur les 4 prochains matchs.... Dallas, Tampa, Washington, et Atlanta devraient etre les adversaires directs pour le WC en partant du principe que les Giants, Bears, Seahawks et Panthers terminent 1er !! Sa veut dire 5 equipes pour 2 places.... SA va etre chaud pour se choper sa place !!

Oui c'est vrai que ça sent la finale de division, mais tout dépend où ça va se jouer... Si c'est à Chicago, je ressort ma pancarte Captain Collapse !

Encore un coup dur pour les Vikings. Le meilleur joueur de l'équipe, le punter Chris Kluwe s'est blessé au genou et c'est donc le très surcôté Darren Bennett qui se chargera de frapper les punts le jour du seigneur.
