MessageSujet: Notre MOCK DRAFT 2010 : Les picks   Lun 15 Mar - 16:44

MessageSujet: Re: Notre MOCK DRAFT 2010 : Les picks   Lun 15 Mar - 18:14

With the first overall pick, the Rams select SUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUH

Ndamukong Suh
DT
6'4 302 lbs
Nebraska

With the second overall pick, the Detroit Lions select
GERALD MC COY from Oklahoma

Gerald Mc Coy
DT
6'4 295lbs
Oklahoma

A voir à l'avenir.

With the third pick of the NFL 2010 Draft, Tampa Bay Buccaneers selects from Oklahoma State University : OT Russell Okung.

Height: 6-5¼ | Weight: 307 | 40-Time: 5.15

One of America's top linemen and projects as a high draft pick ... A first-team all-conference selection by the coaches in 2008 after earning honorable mention all-league honors as a sophomore ... Has started 34 straight games for the longest active streak on the team ... Has been a starter in the offensive line since his true freshman season ... Was named to the Rivals.com all-bowl team at the conclusion of the 2007 season after holding Indiana's Greg Middleton, the NCAA's sack leader, without a tackle in the Insight Bowl victory.

2008 (Junior): The anchor of the Cowboy offensive line ... Played especially well in big games ... Battled Texas defensive end Brian Orakpo, the Big 12 defensive player of the year, to a draw ... Helped lead OSU to its third straight Big 12 rushing title and top 10 national rankings in scoring and total offense as well as rushing ... OSU is also among the top 20 in fewest sacks allowed ... Led OSU with 71 knockdown blocks ... Also topped the Cowboys with 27 "dominating" blocks ... Was in for 874 snaps.

2007 (Sophomore): Started throughout the season and was one of the dominant players up front ... Helped lead the Cowboys to top 10 national rankings in rushing (eighth) and total offense (seventh) while finishing third in the country in sacks allowed (11 in 13 games) ... OSU's offensive line gave up just five sacks in eight Big 12 games to lead the league in that category ... Was selected as OSU's most valuable offensive lineman against Florida Atlantic (nine knockdowns), Sam Houston State (10 knockdowns) ... Had the highest game grade among linemen in the game at Texas A&M ... Was the o-line MVP against Kansas State, Texas and Oklahoma.

2006 (Freshman): Moved into the starting lineup for the first time against Kansas and held the position of right tackle for the rest of the season (eight straight starts) ... One of three freshmen who started at least one game on the offensive side ... Helped OSU's offense to its fourth highest scoring season ever ... Graded out as OSU's best offensive lineman against Nebraska and Texas Tech ... Ended the season by being voted as a member of The Sporting News all-Big 12 freshman team and was named the Dick Bogert Award winner as OSU's top freshman.

High School: Recruited by Oklahoma, LSU and Nebraska ... Was rated No. 50 on Scout.com's southwest top 100 list and was first-team all-Greater Houston and first-team all-district ... Member of the Dallas Morning News' top 100.

Personal: Born Oct. 7, 1987 ... Son of Dorothy Akpabio and Victor Okung ... A marketing major at OSU.

Strengths:
Prototypical size with long arms and big hands --- Terrific athlete with good quickness and agility --- Excellent strength --- Pretty nimble feet and moves well laterally --- Fantastic balance --- Gets a very good push in the run game --- Violent initial punch --- Understands positioning and angles --- Nice body control and is comfortable in space --- Range to pull and get to the second level --- Smart with solid awareness --- Is tough and flashes a nasty on-field demeanor --- Competitive --- Hard worker --- Durable --- Has lots of experience against quality opponents.

Weaknesses:
Is still relatively raw as a technician --- Will play too tall and could be more consistent with leverage --- Must use his hands better --- Gets caught leaning at times --- Just average anchor ability --- Has some trouble sustaining his blocks --- Isn't especially dominant in any aspect.

Notes:
Was a four-year starter for the Cowboys, which included a consecutive games streak of 47 --- A consensus All-American as a senior --- Named 1st Team All-Big 12 in both 2008 and 2009 --- Honored as the Big 12 Offensive Lineman of the Year in 2009 --- Oklahoma State led the Big 12 in rushing every year of his career and he helped paved the way for three different 1,000 yard rushers --- Was considered to be a potential first round pick in the 2009 NFL Draft but opted to stay in school for his senior season --- Has the ability to see action on either the left or right side --- An outstanding all-around blocker with an ideal mix of physical tools and intangibles who excels as both a pass protector and run blocker -- Not a "Franchise Left Tackle" but probably just a notch below.

With the 4th overall pick, the Washington Redskins select Sam Bradford, QB, Oklahoma.

Cool

MessageSujet: Re: Notre MOCK DRAFT 2010 : Les picks   Ven 19 Mar - 13:46

With the 5th overall pick, the Kansas City Chiefs selects Eric Berry from Tennessee

Strengths: Excellent athleticism --- Great speed --- Quick and agile --- Explosive with a burst and closes in a hurry --- Outstanding instincts, awareness and anticipation --- Fantastic hands and ball skills --- Nice leaping ability and body control --- Smooth with fluid hips and great feet --- Excels in man and zone coverage --- Does a good job in run support --- Super tough and is not afraid to throw his body around --- Can deliver the big hit --- Extremely competitive --- Versatile --- Strong work ethic --- A team player and leader --- Productive --- Has lots of quality experience.

Weaknesses:
oes not have the ideal height or bulk you look for --- Too aggressive at times --- Will miss some tackles --- Gets tall in his backpedal --- Might be too physical for his own good --- Has durability and health concerns.

Notes: A three-year starter for the Volunteers --- Father, James, was a three-year starter and captain for the Vols --- Was elected a captain by his teammates as a sophomore and junior --- Named 2nd Team All-SEC in 2007 and 1st Team in both 2008 and 2009 --- Named the SEC's Defensive Player of the Year in 2008 --- Unanimous 1st Team All-American in 2008 and 2009 --- Recipient of the Jim Thorpe Award as the top defensive back in major college football in 2009 --- Holds the SEC career record for interception return yards and was just 8 yards shy of the NCAA mark --- Underwent arthroscopic surgery on his left shoulder following the 2008 season --- Has the ability to play either safety or cornerback --- An all-around threat who is effective against both the pass and the run and is capable of playing in-the-box or in the deep middle --- A true playmaker and ballhawk who always seems to be around the action --- Rare talent with top-notch intangibles who will draw favorable comparisons to All Pro Ed Reed of the Baltimore Ravens.

MessageSujet: Re: Notre MOCK DRAFT 2010 : Les picks   Ven 19 Mar - 14:00

With the 6th overall pick, the Seattle Seahawks selects Jimmy Clausen from the university of Notre Dame

Strengths: Good height and bulk --- Arm strength is more than adequate and can make all of the necessary throws --- Great throwing mechanics with a quick delivery --- Super accurate passer with terrific touch, timing and anticipation --- Very smart with an excellent football IQ --- Knows how to operate under center, recognize blitzes, read coverages and go through progressions --- Takes care of the ball --- Able to buy time in the pocket with his feet --- Can throw on the run --- Tough and will play through pain and injuries --- Is confident with a fiery field presence and ice water in his veins --- Hard worker --- Media savvy and has proven that he can handle the spotlight --- Experienced --- Superb bloodlines.

Weaknesses: Borderline cocky and entitled with a personality that rubs some people the wrong way --- Not a great athlete --- Can be overly cautious and too quick to check down, throw the ball away or take a sack --- Has to windup to really zip the ball --- Floats the deep ball at times --- Might not have a ton of upside --- Is still maturing --- Durability is a concern.

Notes : Was a three-year starter for the Fighting Irish --- Brothers Casey and Rick both played quarterback at Tennessee --- Started getting national media attention in middle school and was labeled the "LeBron James of College Football" --- Was a celebrated recruit who won just about every prep award and honor imaginable --- Began working with highly-regarded quarterback guru Steve Clarkson in the 8th grade then spent three seasons under the tutelage of offensive mastermind Charlie Weis in college --- Underwent surgery to repair a minor injury to the elbow on his throwing arm in 2007 --- Played through a painful toe injury in 2009 that eventually required surgery to repair a couple of torn ligaments following the season --- Voted a captain by his teammates in 2009 --- One of the most prolific passers in Notre Dame history despite only playing three seasons --- Made major strides in the leadership department as a junior, showing a much better on-field demeanor and taking his team on a number of impressive game-winning fourth quarter drives --- Extensive experience running a pro style system, a factor which can't be underestimated in this day and age of the spread offense --- Was essentially groomed to be an NFL quarterback from a very young age and has somehow managed to live up to sky-high expectations in the face of intense scrutiny --- The worry is that some of the Jay Cutler-esque qualities of his personality could begin to take their toll in the locker room if he lands in a bad situation or with a dysfunctional franchise --- A polished signal caller with an outstanding pedigree and all of the tools to be a top-notch starter at the next level.

MessageSujet: Re: Notre MOCK DRAFT 2010 : Les picks   Sam 20 Mar - 1:08

With the 7th overall pick, the Brooooooowns (badly) select:

Joe Haden, CB, 6-1, 190 lbs, Florida

Citation :
Agility: Displays elite high-point agility. Shows loose hips that he can open up to turn. You’d like to see Haden explode more when he opens up his hips, though. His change of direction ability isn’t as great as you’d like, but it’s serviceable.

Ball skills: Don’t mistake Haden’s eight interceptions in three years for ordinary ball skills. Where Haden’s ball skills are evident when he’s in the air with a receiver. He had 34 career passes defended and really came up his best here in big games. Haden’s ball skills are what makes him a true shutdown corner.

Body control: Haden flashes excellent body control when he’s in the air. Positions himself to get in front of receivers to make a play on the ball. Rarely got called for interference or illegal contact. Times his jumps nicely.

Instincts: Possesses extremely impressive recognition skills. Pump fakes don’t move Haden around and reads routes nicely. Very good at differentiating run and pass plays to break toward the line of scrimmage. Has good instincts when the ball is in the air.

Man coverage: Haden’s press skill is excellent and he can handle large receivers at the line. A picky defensive backs coach might want to work with Haden on his backpedal. He’s more of a side step, which gets him in trouble against shifty receivers. Once Haden is turned and running with the receiver, he stays right on them and uses his hands well here.

Pursuit: If he gets a clear lane, Haden shows excellent back-side pursuit against the run. Takes good angles, so long as he doesn’t get held up by a blocker. For a cornerback, Haden is a solid pass rusher. Had three sacks as a junior.

Size: Haden size is adequate for the position. He has decent bulk on his frame and long arms. Some question, though, if he is truly 5-foot-11. Plays much bigger than his measurables.

Speed: Shows that he has optimum playing speed. Stayed in stride with just about every receiver he lined up against, especially when running in a straight line. Is an explosive closer. Gets up to speed in an instant.

Tackling: Even though Haden doesn’t have the best size, he is strong supporting the run. His tackling skills are good. Although he could stand to get lower on his tackles, he wraps up properly and doesn’t let go.

Zone coverage: Improved his zone coverage skills as a junior. Did a better job of trusting his football intelligence and understanding where a route is going to develop. Before he would bite on combo routes and have to rely on his closing speed. Has the burst to close his cushion fast.

Final word: There is no better college cornerback than Haden. He’s come along this season as a complete corner capable of shutting down a side of the field and helping against the run. Although Haden struggles at times against shiftier receivers in man coverage, he has good speed and can out-muscle opponents.

Haden was a starter upon setting foot in Gainesville. He missed only one game in his career due to injury and started 40 games for the Gators.

Clearly the top cornerback available in the 2010 NFL Draft. Has the strength, tackling ability and closing speed to play free safety as well.

With the 8th overall pick, the Oakland RAIDERS select:

BRYAN BULAGA, OT, IOWA

DOB: 03/05/1989
Age: 21
Height: 6'5 3/8"
Weight: 314lbs

Citation :
Analysis

Pass blocking: Takes a strong angle on kick slide, keeps knees bent, head up, and arm extended to keep defenders at bay. Very difficult to get off his blocks if he's mirroring. Has a strong punch. Tends to lunge against inside moves, lacks great recovery speed and can be beaten by secondary rush. Slow to recoil once extended. Hesitates when defenders let up. Gets bull rushed into the pocket by strong ends because he allows their hands into his chest, but typically anchors before reaching the quarterback. Must improve his arm-bar to keep rusher out of the pocket. Inconsistent quickness after the first step in his kick slide makes him susceptible to giving up the edge to quicker pass rushers.

Run blocking: Good positional blocker, well-coached on how to get correct angles. Capable in zone scheme, has a strong combination of agility and strength. Turns his man out of the hole and seals the edge. Attacks defenders in short yardage situations, strong enough to lock on and sustain, even against large ends. Gets low to drive near the goal line.

Pulling/trapping: Isn't asked to pull or trap a lot in Iowa's zone system, but has the quick feet needed to work behind the line and burst through the hole. Usually hits a target on the move and sustains.

Initial Quickness: Brings a very strong punch and pop to his opponent when run blocking, especially for a left tackle. Adequate quickness to pass set from two-point stance.

Downfield: Excellent mobility to get to the second level and beyond. Keeps feet moving and hands strong after initial contact, sustains well against linebackers and safeties. Mirrors quicker players in space. Adjusts to players coming from any angle. Gives effort downfield to block on runs and pass plays.

Intangibles: Considered a very competitive, smart and hard-working leader up front. Fought to return from thyroid condition during 2009. Cleans up piles and defends teammates on the field.

With 9th pick overall, Bills select :

Anthony Davis, OT, Rutgers

It’s no secret that the Bills biggest hole is at left tackle. Davis is a New Jersey kid that should be able to come in and be an improvement right away. Davis still needs some work and needs to mature, but his potential is big time.

With the 10th Overall pick, the Jacksonville Jaguars select :

DAN WILLIAMS, 6-2/327

Defensive Tackle -TENNESSEE

# Strengths: Good height and outstanding bulk/strength
# Powerful and can collapse pocket
# Controls point of attack
# Plays with low base
# Anchors the double team
# True force against the run
# Athletic
# Makes plays outside phone booth
# Sniffs out counters and misdirection
# Quick and nimble
# Difficult to block once he gets under an offensive lineman's pads
# Good job of stacking and shedding blockers
# Solid awareness
# Can play 0 or 1 techniques (3-4 or 4-3 nose tackle)
# Nice amount of potential

Weaknesses:
# Tends to wear down in second half
# Not always as physical as you want him to be
# Lacks flexibility and speed
# Not a pass rusher
# No move outside of bull rush
# One-year wonder possibility
# Mediocre work ethic in past

Summary: Monte Kiffin and Ed Orgeron really motivated Williams this past season and you worry if he will maintain his level of play on the field and in practice once he gets paid. He's a prototypical nose tackle, and with an impressive Senior Bowl and postseason workouts, he could sky rocket up draft boards into the top 20 picks. He'll be a great fit for teams like Miami, Cincinati, Houston, Denver, San Diego and Minnesota. Williams is an intriguing talent in a below-average defensive tackle class and is my No. 1 ranked nose tackle.

Player Comparison: Domata Peko. Peko is a dominant 1-technique for the Bengals and is a true force against the run, but not much of a pass rusher.

----

With the 11th Overall pick, the Denver Broncos select:

Rolando McClain, ILB from Alabama, 6-4(1,93)/258(117)

With the 12th Overall pick, the Miami Dolphins select :

Dez Bryant, WR from Oklahoma State

Strengths :
● Above average height
● Good muscle definition
● Great hands
● Will come back to the quarterback and present a window
● Dominant on jump balls
● Attacks ball at apex
● Gets off line of scrimmage
● Coordinated and can adjust to the ball
● Knows how to set up a receiver and flip their hips
● Athletic
● Nice sideline awareness
● Tough to tackle
● Explosive punt returner
● Good running vision
● Decent amount of upside

Weaknesses :
● Route running is still suspect
● Rounds off digs and deep outs
● Not very fast
● Lacks deep speed
● Could be more elusive
● Doesn't always generate maximum YAC
● Needs to eat up cushion more quickly in off man
● Needs to work on reading coverages as he does not always identify the zone
● A little sluggish coming out of breaks

Summary :
Bryant is a talented receiver, but he doesn't seem to project as a No. 1 wideout at the next level. He has the skill set of a dominant No. 2 who can really help a quarterback in the red zone and on third down.

Player Comparison :
Chad Ochocinco. Ochocinco and Bryant have very similar builds and great ball skills, but unfortunately lack above average speed.

With the 13th overall pick, the SAN FRANCISCO 49ERS select:

CJ SPILLER , Running Back, from Clemson

Strengths:
Solid bulk
Extremely fast with gamebreaking ability
Instinctive back
Patient and sets up blockers
Great vision to identify cutback lanes at line of scrimmage and in open field
Very elusive and evades tacklers
Great spin move
Runs routes well out of backfield
Lots of experience catching the ball
Soft hands
Nice second gear to go distance
Breaks a good amount of tackles for his weight
Can contribute as a returner
Projects as an excellent No. 2, change-of-pace running back
Good YPC average despite weak offensive line

Weaknesses:
Won't get that much bigger without losing speed
Not very assertive between the tackles
Generally shys from contact
Not very powerful
Not going to get much done on the goal line
Weak inside runner
Mediocre in pass protection
Not an explosive or exceptional punt returner
Cuts outside far too often

Summary: Spiller profiles as a very explosive back, but isn't a No. 1 in the NFL, which isn't an entirely bad thing. He needs to work on his pass protection the most so he can really help out virtually every team on third down.

With the 14th overall pick, the Seattle Seahawks select : Trent Williams from the University of Oklahoma

Height: 6-4⅝ | Weight: 315 | 40-Time: 4.88

Strengths:Ideal bulk --- Fantastic athlete --- Quick --- Agile --- Nimble feet --- Good balance --- Natural knee bender --- Moves well laterally --- Mobile with range to get to the second level --- Can hit a moving target --- Great strength --- Stout at the point of attack --- Gets a good push in the run game --- Able to adjust and recover when beat --- Understands positioning and excels at sealing off defenders --- Solid instincts and awareness --- Violent initial punch --- Tough --- Nasty with a killer instinct --- Has a lot of experience against top competition --- Versatile.

Weaknesses:A tad shorter than you'd prefer --- Doesn't have real long arms --- Has leverage and pad level lapses --- Motor and concentration wane at times --- Battled some minor injuries --- Work ethic's been questioned.

Notes:Was a three-year starter for the Sooners --- Named a 1st Team All-American in 2009 --- Earned 1st Team All-Big 12 honors in 2008 and 2009 --- Could project to right or left tackle at the next level --- Played right tackle early in his career but moved to left tackle to replace Phil Loadholt as a senior --- Looked much better on the right side in 2008 than he did on the left side in 2009 --- Struggles as a senior can be at least partially attributed to a relative unfamiliarity with the position, his not necessarily being 100% healthy as well as an inexperienced group of o-lineman around him --- Has all the tools, just needs to be more consistent and pay closer attention to the details --- Terrific all-around blocker who is equally effective in the pass and run games --- Actually compares quite favorably to New Orleans Saints All - Pro Jamaal Brown.

With the 15th Overall pick, the New York Giants select :

Sean Weatherspoon, LB from Missouri

Strengths:
● Outstanding production
● Instinctive player and anticipates
● Eliminates space quickly
● Covers a good amount of ground when dropping into zone
● Very fast and explosive athlete
● Always around the ball
● Terrific change of direction
● Smooth hips
● Form tackler; approaches with near leg and near shoulder
● Explodes through ball-carrier; lays the wood
● Fires out of stance
● Finds a way to make plays
● Good ball skills
● Good football IQ
● Solid pass-rusher
● Vocal leader
● Three-year starter and durable
● Good amount of upside

Weaknesses:
● Needs to get more extension with arms when shedding blocks
● Occasionally overpursues play
● Needs more gap discipline
● Average height and bulk
● Could fill harder against run
● Hand use needs to be improved
● Sometimes gets out of control

Summary:
Weatherspoon is an extremely talented weakside linebacker prospect who brings the playmaking ability and athleticism a lot of teams are looking for. His ability to blitz gives him scheme versatility, but he isn't a 3-4 outside linebacker. Weatherspoon is going to be drafted in the top 40 picks with the potential to go in the top 15 or 20.

Player Comparison:
Ernie Sims. Both WILL linebackers have outstanding athleticism and playmaking ability.

Remarques :

With the 16th Overall pick, the Tennessee Titans select :

Jason Pierre-Paul (non, pas Jacques.)

DE - South Florida

taille: 6-6
poids: 260
40 yards: 4.69

With the 17th overall pick, the SAN FRANCISCO 49ERS select:

Earl THOMAS , Safety, from TEXAS

2010 NFL Draft Prospect Scouting Report:

Strengths:
Excellent athleticism and agility --- Good speed with a burst to recover and close --- Fantastic instincts, awareness and anticipation --- Terrific range --- Fluid hips and quick feet to turn and run downfield --- Able to match up in coverage --- Great hands and ball skills --- Good leaper and high-points the ball --- Is tough and physical --- Willing tackler and can deliver the big hit --- Competitive and self-assured --- Superb Football IQ --- Offers positional versatility --- A hard worker --- Still has upside.

Weaknesses:
Does not have the ideal height that you'd prefer --- Body must mature and needs to get stronger --- Will often miss some tackles due to being outmatched physically --- Can be too aggressive at times --- Has some trouble getting off blocks --- A bit of a ' tweener --- Limited experience.

Notes:
Was a two-year starter for the Longhorns --- Entered the 2010 NFL Draft after redshirt sophomore season --- Uncle, Anthony Thomas, was a linebacker at Stephen F. Austin (1997-99) --- Named 1st Team All-Big 12 and was a Consensus 1st Team All-American in 2009 --- Could also potentially play cornerback at the next level --- Set the UT single-season record for interceptions with 8 --- Will try and follow in the footsteps of other Texas DB's who have found success in the NFL like Quentin Jammer, Nathan Vasher, Michael Huff, Cedric Griffin, Michael Griffin, Aaron Ross and Tarell Brown --- Not a finished product and probably could have used another year of development in college but has the talent and intangibles to be a top-flight free safety in the pros.

commentaires

With the 18th overall pick, the Pittsburgh Steelers (greatly) select:

Mike Iupati, OG, Idaho, 6'6, 330 pounds

Steelers style!

SCOUTING REPORT:
Citation :
Awareness: Has very good pre-snap awareness to diagnose where a play is coming from. Needs to sustain his blocks longer. Should stay on his initial man and finish off the block. Too often Iupati releases his block to work on another defender.

Balance: Rarely gets pushed around at the line of scrimmage. Keeps his shoulders square. Always stays on both feet.

Initial quickness: Gets into position incredibly quickly. Gets from a three-point stance to having his arms up and his legs wide really fluidly. Moves off the line of scrimmage without hesitation. Has the quickness of a Pro Bowl left tackle.

Movement: Iupati has excellent footwork. Has a quick outside step. When he has to, Iupati works upfield quickly. Tends to move around too much instead of staying in his area. Very light on his feet. Works exceptionally well on the second level.

Pass blocking: Picks up stunts against quick ends well. Good help blocker, especially against ends who work to the inside. Has a strong hand punch to jolt defensive linemen.

Pulling: For a player his size, it’s surprising just how good Iupati is at pulling. he works really well on the move, working from left to right. Doesn’t make missteps. Is best when his target isn’t on the move.

Run blocking: Can be dominant on run blocking because of his size and strength. Aggressive off the snap, which helps him get leverage. Could do a better job of keeping his knees bent in run blocking so defenders don’t get under his pads. Does a nice job of moving to the side and pushing defenders into the pile to create running lanes. Keeps a good base and doesn’t get pushed back.

Size: Possesses great size for the position and has a good build throughout. Isn’t just a big, fat offensive lineman. Looks to be in good shape. Has long arms.

Strength: Does nicely off the snap dipping his shoulder and driving into defenders. His functional strength is ready for the NFL. He’s strong throughout his torso and has powerful legs. Looking at his frame, he could even get bigger, which is scary considering he’s already at 330 pounds.

Technique: Good job as a hand fighter keeping defenders out of his frame. But Iupati has to do a more consistent job with proper hand technique. At times would get complacent and drop his arms. Always keeps his shoulders square to the line of scrimmage at all times unless pulling.

Final word: Although it may have been against somewhat lesser competition, Iupati was arguably the best player on the field in every game he played in 2009. Iupati was a consensus All-American and a finalist for the Outland Trophy as a senior. What Iupati showed throughout the year is that he’s the premier senior guard prospect in the nation.
The question about Iupati is where to play him. His footwork, arm length and strength is so good he could probably play left tackle. Iupati could be the next Branden Albert – a solid tackle with little upside. Or he could stick at guard and start from Day 1.
Guards aren’t generally taken in the first round, but Iupati could be the exception.

With the 19th Overall Pick, the Atlanta Falcons select:

BRANDON GRAHAM, DE/OLB, MICHIGAN

Position: Defensive End
College: University of Michigan
Height/Weight: 6′1″, 263 pounds
Age: 21 years
Class Status: Senior

Summary: Brandon Graham’s football career has come a long way. It’s not so much that his athletic ability has changed, but rather the level and aspect in which he’s playing in. Despite an astounding high school career at Crockett Technical in Detroit in which he played 4 positions and led his team to a state championship, the tough player was forced to often times play on inadequately prepared fields and practice surfaces. In one instance, Graham and his squad had to warm up for a game with parking lot cars providing lights instead of actual field lights. Following his early teen years, the sports star was recruited to the University of Michigan as a hopefully dominant force in the Linebacker corps. Just before his freshman season as a Wolverine began, Graham (who then–even at such a young age–measured as being over 280 pounds) switched to the Defensive End spot. Despite all the hype he had received coming into college as one of the best players at the high school level, Graham managed to play only a few games as a backup defensive lineman. However, his role on the team increased significantly for the ‘07 campaign; after losing some weight and being inserted into the starting lineup, he churned out 8.5 sacks and received recognition for many awards and, more importantly, respect around the NCAA. In his junior season, Graham led the Big-10 conference in tackles for loss, and placed 11th in the nation with 10 sacks, a personal best. His statistics improved more in his 4th and final season at Michigan, in which he boosted his tackle total by nearly 20 and matched his previous seasonal mark of 10 sacks. A physical defender with a bunch of collegiate awards, Brandon Graham also upped his Draft stock with an impressive performance at the end-of-the-year Senior Bowl contest, and overall should be among many teams’ rankings at the DE position.

Strengths:
- Is a relentless pass rusher who seemingly never “takes a play off”
- Has an outstanding physicality
- Very strong and powerful on the line
- Performs well in maneuvers that lock Tackles on running plays
- Contains a great collection of blitz moves (spinning, twisting, and ripping motions)
- Extends/utilizes arms to maximum extent and engages opponents with force
- Has ability to pursue and catch ball-carrier down the field
- Is smart and tricky in his pre-snap adjustments
- Has strong level of toughness and often plays through injuries
- Knows how to adapt to certain plays he recognizes from the offense

Weaknesses:
- Doesn’t have a big explosion on the first step in pass rush techniques
- Is a bit short in both overall height and arm length
- Lacks speed
- Over time, can get repetitive in choice of blitzing styles/his pass rush can become predictable
- Questions have been raised regarding his ability to play in the NFL as both an OLB and DE

With the 20th Overall Pick, the Houston Texans select:

Kyle Wilson, CB, Boise State.

Scouting Report:
Citation :
Agility/Hips: Very quick and fluid hips. Shows a lot of flexibility when swinging to either side. Remains balanced throughout. Light on his feet and changes direction with ease at a high speed.

Ball Skills: Reacts to the ball better than most receivers. Can adjust his body to any angle in order to ensure he comes down with the ball. Positions his body well and times his breaks with consistent precision. Has the hands of a receiver.

Body Control: Plays with complete balance from head to toe, constantly upright and in position to explode in a break.

Instincts/Recognition: Very smart player that anticipates throws. Gets himself moving towards the action before the ball is even thrown. Does trust his instincts too much at times, can be fooled and caught gambling. Gets caught peeking in to the backfield, will lose track of what is behind him in zone coverage.

Man Coverage/Turning Ability/Press Skill: Loves this part of the game. Likes to be physical at the point of attack and has abused receivers trying to get off his jam. Has the speed and quick step to shadow a receiver all over the field. Fluid as he turns and runs, maintains acceleration while keeping track of the ball.

Pursuit: Likes to fly around and pursues plays on the other side of the field. A true hustler that knows his speed, takes proper angles.

Speed: Reaches top speed fat, but may lack the top tier deep speed. Does not seem to trust himself against a fast receiver, will give a lot of cushion if he does not have the over-the-top help.

Tackling/Run Support: Very physical, shows zero hesitation in throwing his body in to the action. Can blitz with the best of them, and he knows how to finish. Wraps up more than the average cornerback but will get caught diving at the ankles.

Zone Coverage: Can use his reading ability and explosion well with the action transpiring in front of him. Does not do well when moving backwards in zone coverage, loses track of the action behind him.

Final Word: Because Wilson played a lower level of Division I football, it was important for him to go down to Mobile and perform at the Senior Bowl. He was, without a doubt, the top cornerback there and he cemented himself as a first round caliber talent. His ball skills are top notch (10 career INTs – 27 pass breakups) and his ability to read a quarterback and time his breaks are NFL ready. He can play man coverage in any NFL scheme right away because of the quickness and his physical nature. His intangibles are top notch and the option he brings to the table as a solid return specialist will only increase his value, possibly in to the top 20. With the NFL constantly looking for athlete that can fulfill multiple roles each week, Wilson is going to catch the eye of a lot of evaluators.

With the 21st Overall pick, the CINCINNATI BENGALS select

GUY GEORGES
Il est athlétique, il déteste la défaite. Il déteste tout d'ailleurs.

JERMAINE GRESHAM - TE OKLAHOMA

6'5 - 260 Lbs
40 Time : 4.72

Strengths:
Prototypical size with a large frame --- Excellent athleticism --- Smooth with good speed and plays faster than he times --- Soft hands and can snatch the ball out of the air --- Terrific body control, ball skills and leaping ability --- Able to get off the line and beat the jam --- Can get up the seam and stretch the field vertically --- Superb balance and runs hard after the catch --- Nice awareness and really knows how to get open --- Adequate blocker and gives good effort --- Strong work ethic.

Weaknesses:
Durability is a major concern --- Not particularly explosive and has build-up speed --- Has lapses in concentration which effects both his hands and knowledge of assignments --- Average route runner --- Not real elusive --- Can stand to be more physical and aggressive at times.

Notes:
Just a one-year starter for the Sooners but played extensively and saw action in 42 career games --- Earned All-American and All-Big 12 honors in 2008 --- Would most likely have been a first round pick and competed with Brandon Pettigrew to be the top tight end selected in the 2009 NFL Draft but opted to return for his senior year --- Suffered a torn ACL in his left knee in high school --- Did not play at all in 2009 after tearing ligaments in his right knee during the preseason --- Could have applied for a medical redshirt and gone back to Oklahoma in 2010 but chose to go pro instead --- Talented playmaker who is mismatch waiting to happen and can be a dynamic weapon in the passing game.

Player Comparison: Tony Gonzalez. I hate to compare Gresham to one of the best tight ends of all time, but I am limited because tight ends of Gresham's caliber are very rare with his size, athleticism and production.

Quelques Highlights : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DLXZq7Rv_NY

-----

With the 22th Overall pick, the NEW ENGLAND PATRIOTS select :

JARED ODRICK, DT PENN STATE:

Height: 6-5 Weight: 304
40-Time: 5.06

# Strengths: Good body frame with room to bulk
# Outstanding penetrator; knows how to get up the field and disrupt
# Very quick; nice agility
# Energizer bunny; love his motor
# Very fast, strong hands
# Nice balance and athleticism
# Physical football player
# Very active and focused on the field
# Flashes great instincts
# Displays some upside
# Can play 3-technique; potential to play 5-technique (3-4 DE)

Weaknesses:
# Inconsistent with leverage; will get too high
# A little thin in upper body; must bulk up
# Lacks a base
# Can be run at
# Struggles against bigger linemen
# Has some off-field issues

Summary: I really like Odrick as a prospect if teams view him as coachable. If he adds some strength, he has a lot of potential as a 3-4 defensive end, or 5-technique. However, he will NOT fit every 4-3 scheme. His bread and butter is getting up the field using his quickness and hands. Teams like Buffalo, Minnesota, and Indianapolis might be interested. Odrick is a second-round prospect, but a darkhorse for the first round.

Commentaire:

Bruce Campbell, OT, Maryland

Position: OT
School & Year/Status: Maryland - Junior
Jersey Number: #74
Height & Weight: 6'7 - 310 lbs.

NFL Combine Results
40-Yard Dash 4.85
Bench press 34
Vertical jump 32.0
Broad jump 8'05
Three-cone drill 7.58
20-yard shuttle 4.69

Taylor MAYS - S USC

6'3 - 230 lbs.

40-Yard Dash 4.43
Bench press 24
Vertical jump 41.0
Broad jump 10'05

Citation :
Coverage skills: Reads the quarterback well on passes in front of him, breaks quickly and closes in time to make a play as the pass arrives. Shows the quickness, agility, hip movement and speed to cover tight ends, but won't be able to handle NFL slot receivers. Gets outside to help cornerbacks in deep coverage, but is sometimes late in reading the deep throw and lacks the elite speed to compensate. Grade: 7.0

Run/pass recognition: Shows good instincts. Does not get fooled by misdirection, trick plays or playaction fakes. Must be more consistent reading the quarterback on downfield passes. Grade: 7.5

Closing speed: Shows a good closing burst when near the ballcarrier or receiver. Arrives at the same time as passes to deliver big hits. In run support, closes in a blink to blast ballcarriers. Grade: 7.5

Ball skills: Shows the hands and timing to make interceptions, which is rare for a hard-hitting safety. His ball skills aren't rare, but he can make plays. Grade: 6.5

Run support: Is a physical and violent hitter who maintains good balance on tackles. Makes a lot of tackles near the line of scrimmage. Sometimes gets cautious in run support and does not fly up the field. Grade: 8.5

Bottom line: Mays is a big safety with good athleticism, size, strength and toughness. Despite a disappointing senior season, he is sure to be a first-round pick and good all-around starter. He will be an impact defender against the run and on passes in front of him, but he must improve in deep coverage to be a Pro Bowl safety. Mays could be considered for a move to outside linebacker if he does not improve his play in deep coverage.
