With the 25th pick of the NFL Draft,

Houston Texans selects :

QB Mitchell Trubisky (North Carolina)

6'2 - 222lbs

Stats

[th]YEAR[/th][th]GP[/th][th]COMP[/th][th]ATT[/th][th]YDS[/th][th]COMP %[/th][th]TD[/th][th]INT[/th]
2013 RS - - - - - -
2014 12 42 78 459 53.8 % 5 0
2015 9 40 47 555 85.1 % 6 3
2016 13 304 447 3,748 68.0 % 30 6
Totals343865724,76267.5 %419

Stats to know: Adjusted completion percentage when pressured was 66.7 percent, tied for No. 1 in the draft class among quarterbacks with at least 80 attempts
What he does best:

  • Compact, accurate, quick arm with a three-quarters release. Quick release allows him to get rid of the ball even when under heavy pressure.
  • Polished passer with consistent footwork and mechanics.
  • Athletic within and outside the pocket. Very accurate throwing on the move.
  • Anticipates well on timing routes as well as windows in zone coverage.
  • Quick-minded and reacts quickly from the time he sees it to time of release.
  • Discipline with his reads and shows ability to scan the field in full field progressions.
  • Natural feel and instincts in the pocket.
  • Consistently accurate ball placement in the short passing game maximizing catch and run opportunities.
  • Has the arm to drive the ball outside the numbers. Consistently hits the “cover-2” hole in between the cornerback and the safety, much more often than most college quarterbacks.
  • Values the ball and is a good decision maker.

Biggest concerns:

  • One-year starter with limited amount of game tape.
  • Inconsistent deep ball touch. Ball hangs and forces receivers to adjust too often.
  • Poor blitz recognition at times leaving him surprised where defenders are coming from post snap.
  • Feet/mind can start to move too quickly under pressure leading to inaccuracies.
  • Can get stuck on the spot in the pocket with feet bouncing instead of pushing up in the pocket.
  • Will overstride getting too long resulting in lost power at times when needing to drive the ball downfield.

Bottom line
Despite being a one-year starter, Trubisky is very polished as a passer playing with good balance and consistent mechanics, which leads him to throw with great accuracy in the short/intermediate passing game. Although he comes from a version of the spread in his college offense, he was asked to do many full field progressions and showed he can click from receiver to receiver quickly and efficiently. Has very good pocket instincts and ability to keep eye level up to see receivers down the field while moving within the pocket. His three-quarters release may lead to more batted balls at the LOS but is likely not a huge issue at the next level. Will need to work on hitting his deep shots with more consistent accuracy to keep defenses from sitting at the break point. Shows all of the tools to develop into a very solid NFL starting quarterback and appears to be the safest option of the 2017 quarterback draft class.

With the 26th pick of the NFL Draft,

Seattle Seahawks selects,
CB Quincy Wilson (Florida)

6'1 - 211lbs

Stats

[th]YEAR[/th][th]GP[/th][th]TKL[/th][th]PBU[/th][th]INT[/th][th]YDS[/th]
2014 12 22 3 1 0
2015 14 29 5 2 13
2016 13 33 6 3 80
Totals398414693

Stats to know: Allowed an NFL passer rating of just 29.9 on throws into his coverage in 2016.
What he does best:

  • Willing to gamble and break on the ball, and had three interceptions in 2016, despite being targeted just 49 times.
  • Good movement skills for his size. Closes on the ball quickly and can mirror receivers early in the route.
  • Often runs comebacks as well as the wide receiver.
  • Plays the deep ball well, stays on top of the route and can make a play on the ball.
  • Does not get beat often. Gave up 16, 25 and 16 catches in each of the past three years. In total, he gave up just 616 yards on passes thrown into his coverage between 2014 and 2016 (he did benefit somewhat from inaccurate quarterbacks).
  • Loves to get physical and press wide receivers. At his best when he can jam the WR off the snap.
  • Reads and reacts very well against screen. Can come up and make tackles close to, or behind, the line of scrimmage.
  • Just didn’t allow much production from wide receivers against him. Allowed an NFL passer rating of just 29.9 on throws into his coverage throughout 2016.

Biggest concern:

  • One flaw in his ability to jam receivers at the line of scrimmage is getting beat inside. Had numerous plays, resulting in both completions and incompletions, where he lost the receiver on an inside move.
  • Will have to improve at being subtler with contact in the NFL. Physical to the point that he blurs the line on what would be flagged in the NFL. Was flagged five times in 2016.
  • Can get a little bit lost in off coverage at times. 77 of the 227 yards he allowed last year came on plays where he looked to switch off.
  • Will lose receivers at intermediate level. Struggled somewhat against post routes, giving up 61 yards on throws into his coverage, and being saved on another potential big play by a drop by the receiver.
  • Has never seen extensive playing time at any position other than right cornerback in his time at Florida.
  • Gambles often. Paid off for him at Florida but there were times where he got lucky. Against better quarterbacks and receivers in the NFL, that could backfire.

Player comparison: Marcus Peters, Kansas City Chiefs
Whether or not Wilson can make an impact in the NFL early in his career like Peters did remains a big question mark, but like Peters he is more than willing to gamble to try and make a big play. That led to nine interceptions from Peters as a rookie, but also saw him 1,057 yards on throws into his coverage.
Bottom line: Wilson is a gambler and that’s more than likely to see big plays, both good and bad, on his NFL highlight reel. In a very strong cornerback class, he likely sees his value pushed down and out of the first round, but at worst you would expect to hear his name called on Day 2, and he has a chance to be a Day 1 starter in the NFL.

With the 28th pick, the Dallas CowGirls select :

CHARLES HARRIS, DE, Missouri

With the 29th pick on the 2017 NFL Draft,

The Green Bay Packers selects : Haason Reddick
Temple
[/size]

Citation :
Reddick's athleticism has blossomed over the past two seasons for the Owls. The former high school running back and safety showed flashes as a pass rusher in his redshirt freshman (14 tackles, four for loss, one sack) and sophomore (23 tackles, seven TFL, 1.5 sacks) seasons. Reddick and teammate Dion Dawkins got into trouble for an assault outside a Philadelphia nightclub in March 2015, but was not suspended. He was selected for honorable mention All-American Athletic Conference honors that year, starting 12 times, making 45 tackles, 12.5 for loss, and five sacks. The Camden, New Jersey native garnered first-team all-conference recognition for head coach Matt Rhule as a senior, finishing third in the nation with 22.5 tackles for loss and leading the Owls with 10.5 sacks.

More details

Valuuuuuuuuuuuuuue!!!!!!!!
