- Was it a “mutual parting”? Only after Jim Harbaugh had scoured his other options and made a decision, and only after 49ers management told Harbaugh he would definitely not be back as the 49ers coach for the 2015 season.
Let’s be clear: This process started as a firing. That’s the accurate way to describe the uncoupling of Harbaugh from the 49ers, though the 49ers press release said otherwise and Jed York has repeatedly insisted that the press release stated the truth.
But this is what multiple NFL sources have described over the last few weeks:
After the 49ers’ Dec. 14 loss in Seattle, which mathematically eliminated them from the playoffs, 49ers management told Harbaugh that he could coach out the last two games but that he would be replaced in 2015.

- Vic Fangio would have remained as 49ers defensive coordinator if Adam Gase had been hired as head coach last month, a source told CSNBayArea.com on Monday.
Fangio was Gase’s first choice to remain in charge of the 49ers’ defense, according to two league sources. And Fangio, who interviewed for the head-coaching job after Jim Harbaugh’s departure, wanted to remain with the 49ers, a source close to Fangio confirmed.
Tim Kawakami of the Mercury News reported Gase was in line to be the 49ers coach but it was contingent on Jim Tomsula being promoted from defensive line coach to defensive coordinator.

- Q: Then why move on from your coaching staff?
BAALKE: Well, there are a lot of…and once again, to sit here and rehash the whys — I think I’ve stated exactly why. Jim has moved on. He’s got a heck of a job. Head coach at University of Michigan is a heck of a football job. I know that’s something that he always wanted to do. And we’ve moved on as well.

- Jim Harbaugh rescues motorist in Michigan highway crash
(...) In the middle of spring practices and a trip out of state, however, Harbaugh still found time to be a good samaritan when called upon.
Shortly after 2:45 p.m. Tuesday, Harbaugh was traveling along I-94 near Ann Arbor when he came upon a single-car accident. A woman driving a Jeep along the highway apparently was driving too fast and lost control in slippery conditions, causing her car to hit the center median, overturn and land on the other side of the road. The driver was partially ejected despite wearing her seatbelt, but Harbaugh assisted her until police and emergency vehicles were able to arrive on scene.
"Jim Harbaugh, University of Michigan, head football coach, and Jim Minick, University of Michigan, Athletic Staff, stopped and assisted with first-aid by assisting the partially ejected driver to exit the Jeep and by using coats to keep the injured passenger warm until EMS arrived," Michigan State Police said in a prepared statement.
The 53-year old woman and her 73-year-old passenger were transported to a local hospital to treat non-life threatening injuries, according police. _________________ In Brock I still trust.

| Le Super Bowl XLVII, vous vous souvenez? C'était il y a une éternité. 2 ans. _________________ In Brock I still trust.
