| Bon, c'est parti! First the first pick of the draft, the Kansas City Chiefs select.... - Spoiler:
Eric Fisher, OT, Central Michigan
- Spoiler:
- Citation :
- STRENGTHS Tall, long left tackle frame with good thickness but still room to add weight throughout. Natural athlete with bend and foot quickness off the snap, can mirror quick ends around the pocket, staying engaged even with tilted shoulders and often finishing the block with a shove. Strong anchor in pass protection, widens his stance, extends his arms, and keeps his balance even if his opponent gets a good punch on his chest. Agile enough to ride end inside and then pick up outside twist. Shows off impressive straight-line speed and the agility to adjust to moving targets when leading off-tackle runs to the second or third level. Has no issues getting out of a three-point stance in pass protection or the run game despite his height. Flashes nastiness as a drive blocker, latching on and churning his legs to push his man back a few yards. Possesses foot quickness and effective hands to move from one target to the other in combo blocks.
WEAKNESSES Should continue to add strength in his upper and lower body to handle pro defenders. Hands can be slow to get up off the snap, explosive ends get theirs on his numbers. Also needs to consistently latch onto smaller targets in space, can bounce off them instead of dominating like he does when using his hands. Will lunge in the run game, getting off-balance against quicker opponents. Turns his shoulders square to the line in his slide on occasion, allowing ends to get to the quarterback if he steps up in the pocket.

Rating affligeant.

Overview
When examining the kind of NFL talent BYU has produced in recent years, athleticism and potential are not buzzwords often associated with the Cougars' prospects. In fact, head coach Bronco Mendenhall and his staff would likely admit they stumbled into landing one of the senior classes top upside prospects in defensive end Ezekiel "Ziggy" Ansah (pronounced Ahn-saw). A native of Accra, Ghana, Ansah tried out for the basketball team in 2008 and 2009. After failing both times, he joined the track team but left at the end of the 2009 season and joined the football program in 2010 despite warnings from Mendenhall and his staff. The then-sophomore conceded to being worried of how much contact occurred in a football game and noted he always considered his body "a delicate flower."
After switching sports, Ansah worked through winter training, where he gassed out after nearly every drill. However, with a strong work ethic and added bulk to his thin frame, Ansah earned the trust of coaches and continued to practice with the special teams units through the 2011 season. In those 18 games played, Ansah accumulated a total of 10 tackles (the majority on special teams), one pass breakup, and one credited quarterback hurry. Despite still not being on scholarship entering his senior season, Ansah bulked up to nearly 270 pounds in an effort to learn two defensive roles: outside linebacker and defensive end. He earned a prominent role out of preseason camp and has lined up at defensive end in a three man front, outside linebacker in a four man front, and even some snaps at three technique or nose tackle on third downs. Finally, in his one season as a full time starter, Ansah talied 62 total tackles, 13 going for a loss, including 4.5 sacks. The versatile defensive lineman added nine pass breakups, one forced fumble, and one interception while lining up as a rush outside linebacker, defense end, and defensive tackle.
Analysis
Strengths
Combination of size, length, and foot speed is nearly unparalleled. Delivers solid first contact that jolts opponent back. Continues to press and locate ball carriers in the backfield. Consistently sheds at the line of scrimmage, envelopes his target with a strong grasp and outstanding closing burst. Flashes the complete package, specifically when rushing from the edge on passing downs. When lining up inside a natural anchor shows up, helped by low pad level off the snap. Burst off of extension is counter move, gains significant ground on target. Obvious coaching on technique is absorbed and implemented.
Weaknesses
Has admitted to a lack of stamina. Fatigue is noticeable after a few plays of rushing the passer. In those circumstances, does not chase the play down from the backside, instead staying at the line of scrimmage to knock down the pass. Technique is not always there, specifically on the edge against the run. Frequently gives up the wrong arm or shoulder to blockers, takes himself out of the play. Hand fights at the line against the run rather than driving or penetrating to disrupt. A hit or miss player on the field but consistency is growing.
J'assume mon Ansah.

| With the 4th Overall Draft Pick, the Philadelphia Eagles select
Dion Jordan - Spoiler:
- Citation :
- Strengths: Rare athleticism for his size with loose hips and smooth footwork to move naturally in any direction. Looks like a basketball small forward in football pads with his tall, long frame and flexible joints, looking comfortable in space.
Fluid change of direction skills in his transition, quickly redirecting. Very good first step with natural bend and closing burst off the edge to flatten to the quarterback. Active and doesn't quit. Uses his length well with violent hand use, using quick mitts to make it tough for blockers to combat them.
Physical striker to separate man from ball with the arms to easily wrap and finish. Fiery demeanor and has a good head on his shoulders. Good awareness and experience lining up all over the defenses' front-7, even spending time covering the slot receiver and dropping in coverage. Still growing and sky is the limit with his athletic potential.
Weaknesses: Lean and lanky body type. Needs to add bulk to his frame and get stronger, but there are questions about how much weight he can add to his body. Lacks dominant upper body power to win with his hands. Still learning his pass rush moves and needs to develop in this area.
Needs to stay controlled, often overrunning the pocket or his intended target. Lacks experience putting his hand on the ground and rushing from a 3-point stance. Lacks a natural position and will be viewed as a defensive end by some and a strong-side linebacker by others.
Still raw in a lot of areas and will need time to grow at the next level. Strong durability concerns with various injuries over his career, notably a tender right shoulder that plagued him much of 2012. Only average production at Oregon with just 14.5 career sacks
Compares to: Chandler Jones, DE, New England Patriots - Although Jones is stronger and a bit more polished at this point in his development, scouts see that type of potential for Jordan plus he brings much more position versatility and upside.

| With the 5th Overall Draft Pick, the Detroit Lions select
Dee Milliner - Spoiler:
- Citation :
- STRENGTHS
Owns sufficient height, length, and upper-body strength to fight with pro receivers over the middle or down the sideline. Capable of getting a solid punch at the line of scrimmage in press and the quick feet to stay with his man down the field after contact. Lines up receivers in the open field for the big hit. Displays the hip fluidity to open up to stay with deep routes or drop into his zone, while also possessing the foot quickness to stop-start on cut-off routes and on attempted double-moves. Very fluid hips, changes directions easily and clicks his feels to drive on the ball in a flash. Straight-line speed is also impressive, and will use it to hustle across the field when he’s uncovered. Also translates to closing speed when playing off his man or attacking plays in the backfield. Makes the easy interception, but also has the vertical and strong hands to win jump balls against larger receivers. Keeps outside leverage in the run game, forcing plays inside. Violent hand help him rip off receiver blocks. Knows defensive concepts, and playing for Saban gives him a huge step up in more advanced pattern-reading principles. Directs linebackers on combination coverage outside. Flashes the physicality to wrap up ball carriers and drive them to the ground.
WEAKNESSES Stout running backs and physical receivers can run through his tackles, and he has a tendency to leave his feet and lunge. He should continue to get stronger, but needs to break down more consistently to get leverage. Dives at the feet of ballcarriers regularly, can be eluded in space. Doesn’t always land heavy hands on his man at the line of scrimmage when required, but his recovery speed usually makes up for it. Played on a loaded defense, pro quarterbacks will challenge his coverage at the next level. Like all Saban cornerbacks, he was not taught or asked to backpedal in college, and will need to develop new technique and footwork. Can lose track of the ball in the air and will mistime his plays on the ball.
NFL COMPARISON Carlos Rogers
BOTTOM LINE Overshadowed by his high-profile teammates like fellow corner Dre Kirkpatrick over the span of two seasons, Milliner has made plays when given the chance (six interceptions, 38 pass break-ups in three years starting). He is ready to use his pro-ready size, athleticism and change-of-direction ability to become a household name in the NFL after winning back-to-back BCS Championships at Alabama. Milliner’s role grew extensively as a junior, and he showed the skills to be a first-round pick in the NFL.
CBs actuels : Chris Houston / Drayton Florence
[...]

| With the sixth pick of the NFL Draft, the Cleveland Browns select...- Spoiler:
Chance Warmack, offensive Guard, from the Crimson Tide.
- Spoiler:
Strengths: Thick interior player. Possesses a strong punch to shock oncoming defenders and consistently extends his arms to keep them at bay in pass protection. Strong lower half helps his anchor against bull rushes. Mobile enough to effectively trap and pull, regularly negates targets coming into the hole and flattens defensive backs in his path. Practiced fitting on linebackers on combo blocks. Brings attitude on every play, constantly keeps his hands and feet moving when drive-blocking, rolling his hips through contact, and looking to pancake his man whenever possible. Doesn’t have the quickest feet, but is very technically sound and uses his strong punch to stop defenders and his length to mirror. Drives interior defensive tackle off the ball on base blocks. Has handled a number of dominating college defensive lineman with ease.
Weaknesses: Pops straight up out of his stance at times, losing leverage battle against better tackles on occasion. Has foot speed to get out in front of screens but will miss targets and lacks the short area quickness to adjust to defenders on the move. Will stop his feet after first contact at times. Does not elite recovery speed to stop secondary rushes from quicker defensive linemen. Not asked to be a puller for Alabama’s zone-heavy run scheme.
NFL Comparison : Carl Nicks

| With the 8th pick in the draft, the Bills select : Geno Smith, QB WestVirginia - Citation :
- Strengths:
Displays of excellent accuracy Intelligent Hard worker Puts in a lot of time in the film room Decision-making Excellent ball security Rarely ever throws interceptions Field vision Accurate in college Strong arm; can make all the throws Quick-strike capabilities Pushes the ball downfield Athletic Can make plays with his feet Experienced and fits well in a West Coast offense Improves the play of his teammates Distributes the ball to a variety of weapons Very good on touch passes Confident Hangs tough in the pocket Durable Scheme versatility
Weaknesses: Inconsistent accuracy Can go bad for stretches Has sulked on the sideline Misses out on some plays he can make with his feet May not be ready to start from day one Commentaire : Il y a une certitude, c'est que les Bills vont drafter un QB pendant cette draft, reste à savoir qui et quand.

| With the 9th pick in the draft, the Jets select : Jarvis Jones, OLB, GeorgiaOne of the most productive sack artists of the last two years, Georgia outside linebacker Jarvis Jones figures to be a definite first-round selection in April’s draft. His smallish size and slight frame somewhat limits his position versatility (he’s strictly an outside linebacker) and has some medical concerns that will undoubtedly strike him off some draft boards, but 28 sacks and 45.5 tackles for loss in two seasons will be enticing enough for some team to pull the trigger on him in the first round. Despite having some weaknesses at the point of attack, Jones' tenacity and relentless motor have made him an unstoppable force in the SEC. Overall Strengths + Above average first step off line + Uses leverage and converts speed to power well + Very productive college career Overall Weaknesses - Undersized with a slight frame - Medical/injury concerns - One-dimensional player who lacks pass rush moves

| With the 10th pick in the draft, the Titans select : Star Lotulelei, DT, UtahA heart condition has created clouds around what was otherwise a brilliant future ahead for Utah defensive tackle Star Lotulelei. In a draft without a clear-cut No. 1 overall pick, Lotulelei presents a package of tools and proven abilities on the field that sure looks a lot like the best player in the draft upon closer inspection. Strengths Lotulelei has the quickest get-off at the snap of any defensive tackle in the draft, and it's not close. He is almost always the first player out of his stance in the trenches, and it can result in destructive ambushes of interior offensive linemen. Lotulelei's functional strength is overwhelming and he is almost never pushed backwards, even by double-teams. His motor runs hot and he plays with amazing explosiveness for a 300-plus-pound defensive tackle. One Man Gang Lotulelei can single-handedly stop running plays, shedding his blocker and making the tackle on his own. He has surprising overall athleticism and can run in the open field to track down running backs at the edge. He can line up at many different spots on the defensive line and be used in many defensive schemes. When he is on, Lotulelei's game truly is "unstoppable." Weaknesses Predictably, Lotulelei lacks the lateral agility to consistently seal the deal against running backs and quarterbacks who see him coming. He can be eluded, although his constant penetration changes plays. Lotulelei lacks a variety of pass-rush moves and strategies. He can take himself out of plays by charging too strong upfield in the exact direction his blocker wants him to go. Lotulelei is something out of horror movie when he meets a ball-carrier in the backfield Lotulelei tends to fade as games go on, although he plays an inordinate amount of snaps for a defensive tackle. Even though he can't be pushed back, Lotulelei can be steered by blockers when he plays too high, which is more common later in games. Sometimes Lotulelei lacks awareness and misses the play because he is too attack-minded. Tools Lotulelei is massive at 6'2", 311 lbs. His functional strength is overpowering. Once he gets his hands on his opponent, they put up about as much resistance as a blocking sled. He explodes out of his stance and also has enough of a vertical to obstruct passing lanes when he doesn't collapse the pocket. Lotulelei runs about as well as a 300-plus-pounder can, and combined with his motor, this does result in hustle plays away from the point of attack. In general, Lotulelei is an imposing physical presence who will continue to be intimidating at the next level. | |

| With the 12th Pick, the MIAMI DOLPHINS selectTE - Tyler EIFERT from Notre DameBottom LineEifert was a 215-pound TE out of high school who didn’t receive too many scholarship offers, but has developed into one of the top all-around tight ends to enter the NFL draft in recent memory. He was Notre Dame’s No. 1 offensive weapon in 2012, lining up out wide as a WR or in-line as a traditional TE, and was the type of target defensive coordinators had to game plan against. Eifert is a fluid pass-catcher with vacuum hands and the hand/eye coordination to make tough catches and although he doesn’t create a lot of space, he secures grabs in traffic, showing outstanding tracking and high-pointing ability. He is a soft spoken guy, but an animal on the field and a much better blocker than given credit, improving in leaps and bounds the past three years with excellent effort – projects as a starting NFL TE with excellent potential as both a receiver and blocker. | |

| With the 13th pick of the 2013 NFL Draft,
Autres possibilités : Trade Down, DE Bjoern Werner, OT DJ Fluker, ILB Manti Te'o, CB Desmond Trufant

Press corner that likes to have a hand on his opponent at all times. Consistently does get some kind of contact or jam when pressing, remains balanced without overextending. Contact is the arm mirroring the release side. Stays with quick twitch cuts and release with equally fast movements. Flashes strength to throw receiver to the side when wanting to get in on piles. Improved against the run as the season went along. Can really lay into a hit if it is lined up on the edge. Turns to find the football and adjusts well if in the hip pocket of a receiver downfield. Weaknesses Coming off of a knee injury in 2011. Very inconsistent on runs to the empty side, loses contain, does not react quickly enough. Misses tackles when lunging at ball carriers and when leaving his feet. Hands are by his waist at the snap instead of higher to punch more quickly. Can be disinterested when play goes to different receiver he is not responsible for in man coverage, closing speed lacks urgency. Does not have experience inside as a slot corner in nickel. Performance takes a step back in zone coverage, struggles to pass off and close on receivers entering or leaving his area. Looks sluggish or tight hipped when not asked to mirror movements. Not a blitzer when path is impeded. NFL Comparison Brandon Browner Bottom Line Rhodes thrives in physical press coverage, something very few college players can put on their resume. At time his tackling technique is questionable, but Rhodes will make his living locking up boundary receivers with a balanced and strong jam followed up by enough speed to stick in their hip pocket. Just don't ask him to play in zone, because Rhodes shows tight movements when forced to pass receivers to a separate area. His game is somewhat scheme dependent, but expect Rhodes to be selected in the first 50 picks. Grade NFL.com : 86.2 (26th overall)

| With the 14th pick of the 2013 NFL Draft,The Carolina Panthers select : S Johnathan Cyprien (Florida International)6'0 - 217 LbsStrengths Looks and plays like a strong in-the-box safety with solid thickness throughout his build. Holds his ground against blocks from bigger opponents, and also runs through traffic to wrap up ballcarriers inside (sometimes as a fast edge blitzer). Possesses enough speed and athleticism to cover ground as a zone defender in the back half and line up against slot receivers inside. Closes on stretch runs and quick throws to outside receivers even when playing well back from the line. Beats receiver blocks with quickness or strength. His secure tackling in those situations is also notable, as he brings some attitude into his attempts unlike other defensive backs in this class. Used as a blitzer on run and pass plays, can overpower running back blocks. Weaknesses Doesn’t have elite range or the height/length combination to play as a single-deep safety. Quick enough to make a hit after the catch when deep, but is often a step slow to recognize the pass coming into his area. Aggressive in coverage, he can be sucked up by play action and will jump underneath routes, allowing plays over the top. Lacks elite change of direction and quickness in man coverage, and does not recover like a corner if beaten by a quick move off the line or in space. NFL Comparison
Jordan Babineaux
Bottom Line One of the hardest-hitting safeties in the 2013 draft class, Cyprien offers enough range to be reliable in box coverage while displaying an aggressive mentality againt ball carriers and receivers. He plays smart, and that might be the most improtant trait when looking at safeties. However, despite it being unique, Cyprien doesn't have a very well known name ... yet.
[center]

| With the 15th pick of the draft, the Nawlins Aints select:- Spoiler:
Arthur Brown, LB, Kansas State
- Spoiler:
Strengths: Instinctive player who usually finds the football and plays bigger than his height indicates. Strong, secure tackler who wraps and rarely misses, even against larger ballcarriers. Has the lower body power to stop backs' momentum when head-up and brings power into his stops when attacking ballcarriers in space. Uses hands very well. Keeps feet moving through contact. Moves towards the play side even if formation is used as misdirection. Attacks fullbacks in the hole, and does not shy from contact with linemen in the box. Uses his hands to keep pulling guards at bay, but can also dip under their shoulder to avoid their reach. Adept in coverage, can get his hands on a slot receiver or tight end, yet still come off to run with a crosser. Keeps an eye on receivers running behind him, can stay with them across the field. Handles running backs in the flat and on wheel routes. Competitive on 50/50 balls. Consistently hustles from one sideline to the other. Shows some quickness through gaps as a blitzer. Weaknesses: Will be considered undersized for the inside linebacker position and doesn't have much room to grow into. Maturity questions were raised after transfer from Miami. Won't blow up blocker in front of him causing a log jam in the hole. Are times he overruns the hole due to poor vision, fails to recognize his misstake and reset.

Overview
Vaccaro set the bar high for himself and his teammates while announcing his intention to return to Texas for his senior season. "I wanna win the Thorpe, that's it," Vaccaro said. "And go to South Beach." The Thorpe Award is awarded to the nation’s best defensive back (LSU star and top-10 draft pick Morris Claiborne won it in 2011), and Miami is the venue for the BCS Championship Game. Unfortunately, Vaccaro’s goals went unmet. The Longhorns lost four games and the defense struggled mightily for stretches. Vaccaro, however, was one of the bright spots for Texas (92 tackles, 2 interceptions, 7 passes defensed), earning second-team All-Conference honors and showing the skills that will make him one of the first safeties off the board in the 2012 draft
There was discussion about Vaccaro leaving Austin early due to his first-team All-Big 12 play in 2011 (67 tackles, 6.5 for loss, two interceptions, seven pass breakups). He made headlines by wearing injured teammate Fozzy Whitaker’s No. 2 jersey against Texas A&M (intercepting a pass in the big 27-25 win) and finished the year off strong with two tackles for loss and a sack in the team’s Holiday Bowl win over California. As a sophomore, he won the team’s Most Valuable Special Teams Player while also starting six games at safety (54 tackles, one interception, seven pass break-ups, blocked punt). And despite missing all but three games of his senior year of high school due to a knee injury, Vaccaro found himself a regular contributor on defense and special teams as a true freshman (19 tackles, one forced fumble, blocked punt).
Strengths NFL starting combo safety material with a very good blend of overall strength and athleticism. Often used as a nickel back despite a thick overall build. Very loose hips and good overall change-of-direction ability. Locks onto slot receivers at the line and has the agility and straight-game speed to stay with them on out routes and downfield. Physical with receivers trying to block him in the run game, has the strength to rip off and make a stop. Solid open-field tackler, uses great effort and his upper-body strength to drag down ball carriers. Strong off the edge as a blitzer, has bend to turn the corner and gets physical with running backs standing in his way. Flashes the hands and body control to catch passes away from his body. Good change of direction ability and shows the range to play the half-field in Cover Two. Attacks downhill against the run well, running the alley aggressively from deep-half coverage.
Weaknesses
Used extensively in man coverage and around the line, must continue improving as a reliable back-half defender against the pass and last line of defense against long runs. One-speed player who lacks burst. Is not quite agile or fast enough to stick with better NFL receivers, backpedal is high and stiff, can be out-quicked in space, and loses a step running down the seam. Can get caught freelancing and watching the backfield in zone coverage, and will bite on play action. Knee injury ended his senior season in high school after three games. Can fill downhill out of control, losing his leverage on the ball carrier and missing tackles. Doesn’t always take good angles and is prone to running himself too far upfield when he’s the “force” defender.

Strengths: Elite speed, mobility, athleticism Great pass protector Mirrors speed rushers with ease Strong base to anchor against bull rushes Extremely well built Superb run blocker Lethal on the second level Tremendous at pulling Hits blocks on the run Intelligent Great technique with hand placement Textbook knee bend Experienced starter Could move to center Has the ability to play in the box Excellent in short yardage Great feet Strong hands Sustains blocks Durable Should be able to start immediately Good at adjusting to blitz pick-up Scheme versatile Prototype guard for zone-blocking system High ceiling and floor
Weaknesses: A little shorter than teams prefer

| With the 18th Overall Draft Pick, the Dallas Cowboys select
D.J. Fluker - Citation :
- STRENGTHS:
Powerful run blocker. Fluker's combination of size and power make him a formidable prospect who should only get better. While he disappointed scouts by electing not to participate in the Senior Bowl (citing lingering calf, groin injuries), Fluker's incredibly impressive frame left scouts drooling. Despite weighing in 20 pounds heavier than he'd been listed at Alabama, Fluker showed impressive overall weight distribution, long limbs (including 36.38" arms) and shockingly little flab in his middle. Powerful hands. Is capable of latching on and controlling pass rushers. Passionate player who was regarded as a emotional leader for the Tide... For a drive-blocking, power-based scheme, Fluker ranks as the top right tackle prospect in the draft.
WEAKNESSES: At his size, Fluker is strictly a right tackle or perhaps even a guard prospect as he hasn't demonstrated the agility or balance necessary to handle NFL speed rushers on a consistent basis. Even as a run blocker -- his specialty -- Fluker has a tendency to drop his head and stop his feet as he makes contact, resulting in some of his more talented opponents being able to disengage.
Compares to: James Carpenter, Seahawks -- Due to his massive size and upside, Fluker will often earn comparisons to former Alabama standout Andre Smith, who the Cincinnati Bengals made the No. 6 overall pick of the 2009 draft. In reality, a fairer comparison is to former teammate Carpenter, who also earned a first-round selection (No. 25) in 2011 by the Seattle Seahawks.

| [quote="Gitano"] With the 19th Overall Draft Pick, the New York Giants select
Bjoern Werner - Citation :
STRENGTHS Flexible athlete with the natural bend to dip and contort his body to get under or around blocks. Shows excellent snap anticipation and fires out of his stance. Projects as a strong-side 4-3 end who can play the run well and get pressure on the quarterback. Possesses good quickness off the snap for his size and flashes some shimmy to get the inside lane. Finds the ball well and uses active hands to rip past tackles after initial contact. Brings power to his punch, can bull his man towards the quarterback with leverage. Swallows running backs after shedding his man in the run game, has athleticism to make tackles in space. Stacks and sheds well, sets the edge and works off blocks to make stops in the run game. Times jumps well to knock down passes if unable to get to the quarterback, also looks comfortable making plays in coverage (18 career passes defended).
WEAKNESSES Lacks elite length for the position and doesn’t have the natural start/stop explosion of some pass rushers. Pops straight up out of his stance at times, losing strength at the point of attack, and is inconsistent turning the corner as a pass rusher. Usually looks for misdirection when unblocked but loses contain when getting caught up in pulling guards instead of keeping outside leverage. Motor tends to run hot/cold at times, especially late in games or if the play isn’t to his side of the field. Needs to consistently finish when he gets his hands on the ball carrier. Has a history of several minor injuries, including a left hand issue that bothered him this past season.
NFL COMPARISON Osi Umenyiora
BOTTOM LINE Born and raised in Berlin, Germany, Werner enjoyed American football growing up and joined a club team before moving to the United States as a high school exchange student, playing two seasons and emerging as a top recruit. He has developed his football knowledge and technique substantially the past five years, flashing a top football IQ and instincts. Werner has the frame and athleticism to win with flashes of speed or power, although he needs to improve his motor for all four quarters. He has proven to be much more than just a pass rusher, showing much better awareness against the run and at the line of scrimmage to swat passes down – a possible top-five overall draft choice with the potential to be an impact starting strong-side DE in a four-man front.

| With the 20th Overall Draft Pick, the Chicago Bears select : DESMOND TRUFANT,CB, WASHINGTON OVERVIEW Many prospects have NFL role models and Trufant isn't any different. But most prospects don't have the luxury of two older brothers already playing in the league to help guide them through the process. Marcus Trufant was a first round pick in 2003 and is still a contributing member of the Seattle Seahawks and Isaiah Trufant cut his teeth in the AFL and UFL before catching on with the Jets the last two years. Desmond is the little brother, but he also might be the best Trufant in the NFL next season. A four-year starter, Trufant earned his way onto the field as a true freshman in 2009 and showed steady progression over his career. He set career-bests in 2011 as a junior with a pair of interceptions and 16 passes defended, but decided to return for his senior year. Although his senior stats weren't as impressive (1 interception, 9 passes defended), teams mostly stayed away from Trufant's side of the field as he was easily the top defender on the Huskies' roster. While he needs to refine his technique and is far from a polished product, there is no question he has the fluidity and competitiveness to fight for a spot in the first round.
ANALYSIS Strengths: Athletic with fluid footwork, flashing the foot agility to drive quickly on the play. Looks natural in space, staying balanced with the hips and transition skills to redirect in any direction. Physical and fights for the ball when it's in the air, showing an excellent competitive nature. Doesn't shy from contact and will get his nose dirty in run support. Very good job tracking and highpointing with a top vertical to get his hands on the ball. Good bloodlines and understands the NFL process. Good experience as a four-year starter (47 career starts), spending time both inside and outside and in both man and zone coverage. Weaknesses: Narrow torso, lean muscle tone and only average length. Opens his hips too early to protect against speed and needs to stay under control in his movements. Streaky technique once the ball in snapped and reverts to bad habits, relying on his natural athleticism over fundamentals. Lacks elite top-end speed and can be beat vertically. Inconsistent tackling technique, hitting too high and lacking the strength to consistently finish. Plays close to the line of scrimmage but doesn't make much contact and needs to improve his body position downfield. Too much of a grabber. Nagging hamstring injury late in 2012.

| With the 21st Overall Pick, the Cincinnati Bengals select :Menelik Watson, 6-5/310 Offensive Tackle Florida StateStrengths: Elite athlete Extremely quick Great feet Fast to the second level Hits blocks downfield Ability to stay on his feet Excellent length, long arms Powerful Very physical Has some mean streak Strong hands Natural kick slide to negate speed rushes Fast in his drop Tremendous upside Potential to become a left tackle Intelligent Extremely hard worker Studies lots of tape Weaknesses: Needs to improve knee bend Needs to improve pad level Can struggle with bull rushes Vulnerable to stunts Raw and needs developmental time Player Comparison: Willie Anderson. Watson is patterning his game off the great Bengals offensive tackle and that is a good choice for a variety of reasons. Obviously, Anderson was very successful in the NFL, and Watson has a similar skill set to Anderson. Both players have demonstrated quick feet and superb athleticism for big blockers. They each have good strength and power in the ground game, too. Anderson is serving as a mentor for Watson and that should help Watson to reach his potential in the NFL. No team can expect Watson to become as good as Anderson was, but Watson has the potential to be a special player.

| With the 22nd Overall Pick, the Saint Louis Rams select :
CORDARRELLE PATTERSON, WR, TENNESSEE STRENGTHS: Patterson has a solidly-built frame with good height and length. He is a fluid athlete with good initial burst and strength to release to the inside and gain separation in single coverage. Patterson knows how to create with excellent vision, controlled footwork and speed, showing excellent change of direction and a strong plant foot to make elusive, sharp cuts. He has a natural feel with the ball in his hands, making defenders miss with quickness to weave through defenses. Patterson is tough, confident ballcarrier and runs with the belief that no one can tackle him, powering through arm tackles and allowing defenders to slide off of him.
He has very good strength for the position to use his body, box out defenders and make contested grabs, out-muscling defensive backs. Patterson has quick hands and natural adjustment skills to make impressive catches on off-target throws. His coaches rave about his football intelligence and his competitive nature, playing focused and fiery.
Patterson has been extremely productive at both the JUCO level and Tennessee, setting over a dozen school records at Hutchinson C.C. including career receptions (113), career receiving yards (1,832) and career total touchdowns (36). He was also productive in track at the JUCO level with a 10.33 100-meter dash and 22' long jump.
Patterson finished second on the team in receiving in 2012 and set a new Tennessee record for all-purpose yards (1,858), leading the team with 10 touchdowns (5 receiving, 3 rushing, 1 punt return and 1 kick return).
WEAKNESSES: Patterson is still developing as a route-runner and will tip his patterns at times. He is a natural hands-catcher, but will have some concentration lapses and drop some easy ones, running before securing the reception.
Patterson needs to scale back his physicality downfield, often extending his arms downfield against tight coverage and getting away with some push-offs. He has a bad habit of stopping his feet when running room isn't there, always searching for the home run instead of taking what's there.
Patterson has made some mistakes on punt returns, allowing the ball to go over his head or catching the punt too close to the goal line. He has just one year of experience at the FBS-level, albeit a productive one season.
COMPARES TO: Mix of Dwayne Bowe, Kansas City Chiefs and Nate Burleson, Detroit Lions - Patterson has a similar frame and physical downfield nature as Bowe with the speed and quickness of Burleson to contribute as a return man.

| With the Pick 23, the MINNESOTA Vikings select :WR - DeAndre HOPKINS, ClemsonNFL Comparison : Roddy White / Reggie WayneBottom Line Sammy Watkins got a lot of headlines as a true freshman in 2011 because of his exceptional skills, but Clemson’s “other” receiver, Hopkins, produced consistently using his NFL body and hands. “Nuke” excited the Death Valley crowds with his big plays as a sophomore (978 yards, five touchdowns), but he took his game to the next level this past season, emerging as Clemson’s No. 1 weapon for Tajh Boyd. Hopkins re-wrote the Clemson receiving record books in 2012 with 18 receiving touchdowns and to put that in perspective the No. 2 player in the ACC in touchdown grabs was NC State’s Bryan Underwood with 10. Hopkins does a nice job setting up his routes to keep defenders off balance and attack the ball at its highest point – if the ball is thrown in Hopkins area, he goes and gets it. He has fluid body control and the focus to be a reliable starting WR option in the NFL. Should be in the conversation to be one of the first receivers drafted, probably in the late first round range. | |

| With the 24th pick of the NFL draft, the Indianapolis Colts select...
- Spoiler:
Sheldon Richardson, DT, Missouri
- Spoiler:
STRENGTHS: Scouts like the light feet Richardson shows for his size, as he is able to twist inside and chase plays to the sideline with great speed. That agility, combined with his length, makes him a strong tackler in close quarters. Richardsons first step off the snap, especially when lined up over the ball, is quite impressive; he gets into the backfield in a heartbeat, beating reach-blocks and will work his way through double-teams if he sees the ball in the quarterbacks hands. He plays with leverage at the point of attack at times despite his height, holding his ground and wrestling with attitude. Has enough athleticism that Missouri uses him as a standup rusher and to drop into short zone coverages over the middle of the field, where shows the ability to cover crossing receivers and tight ends in a short area
WEAKNESSES: Richardson can struggle to break down and his upper-body strength is not elite, which means his high pad level and failure to use his hands to shed blocks can allow him to get turned from the hole and taken to the ground once off-balance. He had surgery in the offseason to repair a shoulder injury, so he must show his strength has improved. A better player in pursuit than he is holding the point against the run, where he can struggle to anchor. Drag down lunging tackler that misses ball carriers in space.
NFL COMPARISON: Cullen Jenkins

| With the 25th pick of the 2013 NFL Draft,
Minnesota Vikings select...ILB Manti Te'O (Notre Dame)Career Statistics | Year | GP | TKL | TFL | SACK | PBU | INT | 2009 | 12 | 63 | 5.5 | 1.0 | 1 | 0 | 2010 | 12 | 129 | 8.5 | 1.0 | 3 | 0 | 2011 | 13 | 128 | 13.5 | 5.0 | 2 | 0 | 2012 | 12 | 103 | 5.5 | 1.5 | 4 | 7 | Totals | 49 | 423 | 33.0 | 8.5 | 10 | 7 | Analysis Strengths Aggressive middle linebacker with a thick overall build. Vocal leader on the off the field, communicates the call and moves teammates into place when necessary. Downhill player who recognizes plays and closes quickly. Provides pop as a tackler, capable of thumping the ballcarrier and wrapping up to secure the stop. Aware run-stopper between the tackles, finds the ball and can mirror backs to prevent cutbacks. Stops backs momentum on first contact and drive them backwards. Takes on linemen and fullbacks, can bounce or use his hands to rip off and make a stop. Hustles to recover from cut blocks, work through double teams at the second level. Shows enough movement skills to follow stretch plays to either sideline and cover running backs in the flat. Drops to the first-down marker, but is able to close on receivers and backs over the middle to prevent yards after the catch. Attacks gaps as a delayed blitzer, will try to work past the shoulder of linemen picking him up. High character player who performs community service and became an Eagle Scout in 2008. Weaknesses Only average height for the position. Linemen and bigger tight ends have a size and length advantage, can ride him out of plays. Backpedal is high and stiff on his drops. Must prove he has the short-area quickness and long speed to stay with tight ends and receivers in coverage. Takes false steps on play action and misdirection; has only adequate recovery speed. Blunt instrument as a tackler, slips off some tackles when trying to make a big hit. Comes into ballcarriers with his head down at times, allowing them to elude him. NFL Comparison DeMeco Ryans Bottom Line Teo has become the All-American middle linebacker everyone expected coming out of high school, receiving high marks for his character and leadership ability. After some suggested he could be one of the top picks in April's draft, Te'o took a step back against a very good Alabama offensive line during the BCS National Championship. As a hammer between the tackles, the Irish star will be a great inside backer for any 4-3 team, but some may question his ability to reach edge plays or get over blocks in time.
